Sequence Knitting Primer Virtual Workshop
➢ an introduction to four types of sequence knitting: one-row, serpentine, shaped and spiral
➢ a detailed handout, including patterns for knitting washcloths and a cowl, is provided
➢ participants should know how to cast on and bind off, knit and purl; increases and decreases will be demonstrated during the workshop
➢ participants should bring a small amount of worsted or DK weight yarn in a solid colour, and appropriately sized needles for working that yarn (straight or circular; we will be working flat)
To prepare for this workshop, please work the following swatch with DK or worsted weight yarn on appropriately-sized needles.
Cast on 16 stitches. Work {k4, p4} ribbing for 6 rows. Leave on the needles, and we will continue from there during the workshop.
Nancy Lekx holding shawl
Instructor Bio:
Nancy Lekx lives in a small town at the base of the Niagara Escarpment, on the shore of Georgian Bay, in Ontario, Canada—a beautiful location that provides inspiration for a thriving arts and crafts community.  Many of her designs are inspired by local landscapes, and can be seen in Interweave Knitsknitscene and A Needle Pulling Thread magazines.  She has had several patterns published by yarn companies, and sells many of her designs independently on Ravelry.  Her most interesting designs, like her “new year, new shawl” mystery knitalongs, provide several options for personalizing the project and collaborating with the design process.  The pivot from in-person to virtual events at the beginning of the COVID pandemic has allowed her to reach a broader audience, and she has led online knitalongs and taught classes for her own LYS in Owen Sound, Ontario and for shops and knitting groups as far afield as Redlands, California.
